COFFEE-MATE Powder

We encourage consumers to "Please Recycle" as COFFEE-MATE Powder containers are accepted for recycling in most areas. The container for NESTLÉ COFFEE-MATE Powder is made from a white-pigmented plastic (SPI code #2, high-density polyethylene, or HDPE). There is a significant demand for the recovery for recycling of pigmented HDPE. Thus, there is an opportunity and ability to recycle the NESTLÉ COFFEE-MATE Powder bottles by a majority of American consumers. If you have any questions about recycling in your area, check with your local recycling drop-off center or curbside collection program.

COFFEE-MATE Liquid

While the COFFEE-MATE Liquid bottles are recyclable, most areas, unfortunately, do not accept the Liquid bottles for recycling. The NESTLÉ COFFEE-MATE Liquid bottle is made from a clear-pigmented plastic (PET), the cap is made from pigmented plastic (polypropylene (SPI code #5), and the pull ring is made from LDPE plastic, which can be recycled only in a limited number of communities in the U.S. While clear PET containers and bottles have the highest recycling rate of any type of plastic package, this is not yet the case for pigmented (colored) PET. Because of the present state of plastic recycling markets, there is relatively low demand, and therefore fewer recyclers, accepting pigmented PET for recycling. This means that the opportunity to recycle the NESTLÉ COFFEE-MATE Liquid bottle most likely is not available for a majority of American consumers. It may or may not exist in your neighborhood. To determine whether your area is one that offers pigmented PET recycling, check with your local recycling drop-off center or curbside collection program.
