My Go-To Gal- MOM

Lori S.

Location: Lucedale, MS

Favorite Flavor: French Vanilla- although I haven't met a flavor I don't like.

How do you have fun (hobbies, sports, vacations, etc.)? Travel is my ultimate “fun” thing to do. I also love to spend time outdoors- walking, gardening, even lounging in the shade reading. I also love to write, shop, and take photos.

If you could travel back in time, what era would you live in? I'm not sure I'd want to, since I like the 'now', but I think the 20's would be interesting. Things seemed much more simple back then.

What’s your favorite meal? Do you cook? I adore cooking and love to experiment with many different types of cuisine. I love so many foods but specialty sushi would probably be amongst my favorites... I also love Cajun food.

What holiday do you most look forward to, and why? Christmas. It's the perfect time to spend with family and friends, although I love any time that I can spend with family and friends.

First and foremost, she’s my ‘go to’ person for just about everything under the sun. She gave birth to me almost 44 years ago and has always been my biggest fan- supporting me and cheering me on with every endeavor (some of which have been pretty far-fetched).

When I am struggling with a problem or ready to celebrate a victory- it’s mom who I call. She always tells me to come over so we can ‘talk about it’. Without fail- she’s always waiting with a pot of coffee and several bottles of my favorite Coffee-Mate, including her own ‘go to’ flavor- French Vanilla. We’ve shared many tears and much laughter over coffee splashed with Coffee-Mate and if you ask me- I believe the world’s problems could be solved around mom and dad’s table with a good cup of coffee, Coffee-Mate, and of course, chocolate.

It was mom who taught me at an early age how to cook, and that creativity in the kitchen is still something mom and I share today. Just this morning she sent me an email with a picture of her latest creation- Fresh blackberries with Sugar-Free Coffee-Mate poured over the top. Pure guilt-free indulgence. (Of course I thought- Why didn’t I think of that?)

Mom is a beacon of light in my life, a splash of color, the silver lining in my cloud, the cream in my coffee. She has taught me forgiveness, about love (she and dad have been married almost 46 years), and about the importance of giving to others. It is because of all the life-lessons that she and dad have taught me over the years that I’m the person I am today. She is my confidant, my biggest fan and my best friend.

She is mom and on Mother's Day and every day, I love and celebrate her!

What does YOUR mom mean to you?

We use to have coffee time with my mother, she was handicapped and we would get up make her her coffee with her favorite creamer and sit at the bed in her room and all of us kids would just talk morning talk. I try and remember her guidance all the time,

it is so nice to hear nice things from a daughter to her mother! Many of our families memories have been shared at special occasions or holidays and for each and every one of them my mom has brewed a pot of coffee and has provided several of our favorite coffee mate creamers..she knows each of our favorites! Mom's know all those little things! Laina—A member of @CoffeemateUSA Brew Crew

I love how your mom taught you so much about cooking....not many mothers do that anymore. I am a mom myself and have already started teaching my kids this as well. Thanks for sharing! —A member of @CoffeemateUSA Brew Crew
