It's a Wash

If you could travel back in time, what era would you live in? I like where I am now. Facebook. iPhones. Movies on Demand.

How do you unwind after a long day? DVR'd TV with my husband, who always makes me laugh.

Three things you cannot live without…My family, my iPhone, my coffee.

I am a member of the Coffee-mate Brew Crew.

Maybe because it’s the only point during the day when I actually have a few fleeting minutes to myself, but I’m always looking for ways to improve my shower time (and unfortunately, my shower speed, now that my over-active 18-month old has taken to climbing out of his crib in 10 seconds flat).

That’s why I was intrigued when someone recently mentioned their use of a coffee-flavored body wash. Two of my AM favorites rolled into one indulgent treat? Somehow find a way to get a chocolate-chip scone in there and you’ve got my idea of heaven in a bottle!

I did a little investigating, and was pleasantly surprised by my findings. Turns out, beauty experts across the Web give props to coffee as a fab and functional health and beauty aid. Use espresso as a hair mask for glowing tresses! Use plain old coffee grounds as an at-home exfoliant! There was even evidence suggesting that when applied topically, a java jolt could actually reduce cellulite. (Note to skin: drink up!)

But back to that body wash, which could definitely be a nice wake-up call, although I’m not 100% sure I’m down with smelling like a dark roast all day. Maybe if it came in some of my favorite coffee or Coffee-mate flavors (I could see infusing a little Coconut Crème scent-sation into my summer, or a little Gingerbread around the holidays)… that, my friends, is an idea that could get me in a lather.

Have you ever tried coffee in your beauty routine? How much would you be willing to spend on a caffeinated body wash? If you could smell like any flavor of coffee (or Coffee-mate), which would you choose?

I've never really considered coffee grinds in my daily beautification routine - but it does sound intriguing! And probably a lot less costly than the usual products.. Would love to hear more about how the grinds help trim off the cellulite from the thighs - I'm already eyeballing my coffee beans and wondering how exactly to do that! LOL Would also love to hear more about how espresso works on the hair as well.. Please post more info! Doreen G.

Hmm......coffee grinds as an exfoliant sounds good but wondering do you think it might clog the drain??? - I hate to have to use it out in the yard although I've heard that coffee grinds can be used as fertilizer. Love that coffee-mate hazlet nut....... even the sugar free tastes great!

I have never tried coffee in my beauty routine....and yes I would be willing to spend on a caffeinated body wash. What a great idea for Christmas gifts for everyone who loves coffee and coffee-mate on my list... Fresh brewed coffee smells wonderful to me...

Never tried coffee in my beauty routine, but since it's the Fall and this particular Coffeemate is my favorite, wouldn't mind lathering up with a Pumpkin Spice Coffee body wash. Would make me feel warm all over; but, one suggestion--Make it decaf since I often shower at bedtime and wouldn't want to be kept up all night by my body wash. Never had Coconut Creme or Gingerbread Coffee-mate, but will try something new. Love your blog!
