Favorite Flavor:
French Vanilla - this week. I am always changing my mind, so many flavors to choose from.
How do you have fun (hobbies, sports, vacations, etc.)?
Run and spend time with my family.
If you could travel back in time, what era would you live in?
Late 1800s.
What’s your favorite meal? Do you cook?
I love to cook and bake. My favorite meal is anything homemade - can't beat it.
What holiday do you most look forward to, and why?
I love Christmas - it makes me feel like a child again.
I never really truly understood the meaning of Motherhood until I became a
mother. It is amazing the joys, worries and sacrifices that accompany this
lifelong commitment. It can be a challenge at times, but so fulfilling….I
wouldn’t trade it for the world.
One privilege of motherhood is being able to sit down with my mom and share
personal “motherly” experiences and stories. I cherish the moments we get
to spend together, as there are many miles between us. Every time we do
reunite, it never fails, we migrate into the kitchen and brew a fresh hot pot of
coffee. From the coffee pot we turn towards the refrigerator to see what
flavors of Coffee-mate await. The flavors seem to vary greatly from season to
season and who is visiting whom. But we NEVER have a problem finding that
special flavor of Coffee-mate which suits our personal tastes.
I smile remembering our conversations. Some have been tear jerkers talking
about our “little ones”, who are not so little any more. Remembering their first steps, words, and starting Kindergarten. Remising through the
difficult moments, like allowing our children to make poor decisions so they
can learn from them. Beaming from ear to ear, recalling the heartwarming
times. Watching your children, use the compassion you have instilled in their
hearts, to care for someone else.
Other talks with my mom have been very humorous, ending with our sides
hurting. Reliving those unforgettable “only a child” honesty moments,
like the time an overweight woman was asked “baby in there”, with a point
at her tummy. What do you even say as a mother to fix that comment? Or there
was that one summer day when I went inside to check on lunch. Much to my
dismay when I returned outside a few minutes later my boys were playing
fireman…putting a fire out in their play set….I will leave that up
to you to figure out what they were putting the fire out with! Oh, the life
of a mother.
I look forward to the next time Coffee-mate finds us together once again. I
love you Mom!
